Quality LLN Services Part of the CAQA group

Language, literacy and numeracy · a Quality Agency service

Language, literacy and numeracy support is not remedial. It is the difference between assessing the skill and accidentally assessing the reading level of your own assessment tool.

LLN assessment, ACSF mapping and support strategies for learners who need them and providers who must evidence them.

IWhat it is

Language, literacy and numeracy.

LLN assessment, ACSF mapping and support strategies for learners who need them and providers who must evidence them. We work with the organisation you actually are, not the one the policy manual describes, because the gap between those two is usually where the problem lives.

IIWhat is included

Three things, done properly.

i

LLN assessment

Entry level assessment that identifies support needs without becoming a barrier to enrolment.

ii

ACSF mapping

Course and assessment demands mapped against the Australian Core Skills Framework, so the gap is measurable.

iii

Support strategies

Practical adjustments that keep the competency standard intact while removing the irrelevant reading load.

IIIWhat goes wrong

The two failures we see most.

Neither of these is exotic. Both are common enough that it is worth checking your own arrangements against them before anyone else does.

Testing the tool, not the learner

An assessment written well above the ACSF level of the unit measures reading comprehension and reports it as vocational incompetence.

Identifying need and doing nothing

An LLN assessment on file with no corresponding support plan is worse than not testing: it evidences that you knew.
